GREENSBORO, N.C. Greensboro police have found human remains in the backyard of a home where local authorities were searching for the body of a pregnant woman reported missing in 2006.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported that police found the remains in a grave about 4-feet deep Thursday afternoon.

The discovery came just hours after 29-year-old DeCarlo R. Bennett pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Sherri Jackson. She was three-months pregnant when she disappeared.

Authorities believe Jackson was buried on the property where the remains were found. The home once belonged to Bennett's mother.

Police Capt. Janice Rogers said the remains would be sent to the state medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy Friday morning.

Bennett faces up to 40 years in prison when sentenced.
