Spring Cleaning for DOC

Robert Lee Guy, director of the Division of Community Corrections, has described the situation as "Flat-Out Embarrassing."

The NC Department of Corrections is under investigation due to the tragic loss of Eve Carson, and it doesn't look good for them.
So far, the top 3 managers have already been removed from Wake County Probation Dept., and it looks like many more will lose jobs before this investigation is over.

It appears that Lovette was released from jail 2 days before the shooting death of Abhijit Mahato, which was just 6 weeks before the death of Eve Carson. During this time, Lovette has never once met with his probation officer.

According to Mr. Guy, Lovette's probation officer should not even have been working as a probation officer, as she had not completed her basic training.

A trial date has been set for May 5.
Chances seem to be rather slim they will get out on probation again.
Meanwhile...
Last Sunday night in Durham, another murder has occured. This one also was by a man who was on probation, Cory Anthony Jiggets.

It is quite alarming that the system is working so poorly to keep these guys from buying weapons while they are on probation. That shows a real breakdown. Personally I'd love to see a lot stricter gun control laws with much more intensive background checks.
